About Us.
Smithfield Florist
Long term Cairns Northern beaches local, with Lara’s parents previously owning 3 florists around Cairns at one stage during the 80’s and 90’s – Earlville, Rainflowers and lastly Smithfield when it was located in Smithfield Shopping Centre. This was then sold to Mary Jo in 1998, only to return to the family in January of this year!
Like most small family businesses Lara worked in the shops as a teenager before heading off for a brief stint at uni. Upon returning from university, she worked in other florist shops, before her parents took over Smithfield. Lara had a break from floristry to commence a family, and the shop was sold. She then returned to the industry, working for Kerry Woodgate at I Do Flowers, where she was responsible for the completion of general daily orders and bridal work for the last five years.
Living out on the Northern beaches, it was natural when the opportunity arose to purchase the old family business back, now located at Shop 1, 7-11 Salvado Drive Smithfield.
It was wonderful to find that the shop still services a large number of locals, that have remained loyal over the last 25 years, and it has been lovely to reconnect with them all, seeing so may familiar faces! And of course encourage all the new members of our community to call past and say hi!
Accomplished in all forms of floristry, with a passion for wedding work!
A passionate baker and cake decorator – who understands the issues associated with making floral cake toppers for wedding work and a talented painter and illustrator, anything creative challenge is welcomed!
